Another "Sister Park" Added to Zhangye Geopark circle of friends

On April 27, 2019, a group of 5 people from the Pingtan National Geopark Administration Bureau of Fujian Province came to Zhangye Geopark for field study and participated in a symposium to conclude the "sister park". The technical support unit Beijing Yicai Company also participated.

The group first visited Zhangye Geopark Museum to learn about the exhibition contents and the souvenir design and development project. Afterwards, they went to Zhangye Geopark to carry out field research on the establishment of signs for relic sites, infrastructure construction and operation of scenic spots etc.. The archives during its creation and the application film of Zhangye Geopark were reviewed, and the design of Microblog, Wechat and News Client of the geopark were discussed.


In the symposium, Zhangye Geopark Shared the experience in establishing from the aspects of hardware and software construction, geological relics investigation and protection, popularization and publicity activities, declaration and publicity atmosphere creation and promotion of local economic development, while Pingtan National Geopark introduced the basic situation of creating national geopark.. The two sides communicated the difficulties and problems in the process of the establishment and five experiences, including government support, available funds, helpful team, hard work and keeping specifications, were shared by Zhangye Geopark. After the meeting, the two sides signed the "sister park" agreement, which laid a solid foundation for further exchanges and cooperation. Both sides said they will further deepen the learning and exchange for complementary advantages to jointly improve the level of science popularization and research in parks.

   Pingtan National Geopark in Fujian Province is a comprehensive island geopark with abundant typical Marine erosion and deposit landforms and prominent Marine erosion relics, supplemented by granite and volcanic rocks landforms, which has both marine cultural remains and cultural landscapes such as stone houses community. From geological structure to environmental changes to geological landforms and other relics , the formation process is systematic and well preserved, rich and colorful with high rarity, diversity, typicality and ornamental value. There are more than 100 major geological relics in the park, including 1 world-class, 8 national-level and 43 provincial-level.
