Zhangye UGGp Established Sister Geopark Partnership with Jilin Changbaishan Volcano National Geopark

Since successfully aspiring the title of UNESCO Global Geopark, Zhangye UGGp has always adhered to continuously improving its management and construction level and practically strengthened the interaction, exchange, and research with other geoparks. On March 1, Zhangye UGGp welcomed a seven-member team from Jilin Changbaishan Volcano National Geopark and signed a sister geopark cooperation agreement with it. At that day, the investigation team of Jilin Changbai Mountain Volcano National Geopark successively went to Colorful Hills, Binggou Danxia, Chinese Yugur Customs Corridor, and Geological Museum for field investigation.

The next day, at the symposium on experience exchange in applying for the UNESCO Global Geopark, the director of Zhangye National Geopark Administration introduced the detailed practices and experiences of Zhangye's application for the UGGp, and offered guiding suggestions, including the protection and management of the geopark, the planning, and the construction of the geopark, the construction of Table A database, and the construction of science popularization school of the Geopark. After the symposium, both sides expressed that they would take this "tie-up" as an opportunity to continuously strengthen cooperation and exchange in the construction and management of geoparks, protection of geoheritage, sustainable development, cultural tourism promotion, and popularization of science and education, and make due contribution to the construction of the Global Geoparks Network.
