Rich and Colorful Activities of Zhangye National Geopark Administration on the World Earth Day

On April 22, 2018, Zhangye National Geopark Administration took the chance of the 49th World Earth Day, carried out a series of rich and colorful activities with the theme of Treasuring Natural Resources and Protecting Beautiful Land - Telling Our Earth Story. Propagandized the national and provincial conditions and policies of land and resources to the public, popularized the knowledge of new ideas, methods and technologies of land and resources, geological environment, geological disaster prevention and protection of geoheritage. Educating and guiding the public to enhance the consciousness of protecting land resources and geological environment.

Zhangye National Geopark Administration Committee set up advisory place, propaganda archway, publicity banners and display board in Zhangye Geopark Museum, Central Park of Ganzhou District, Central Park of Linze County, Colorful Town, Geopark Plaza and Tourist Reception Center, built strong promotional atmosphere.The staffs made on-site consultation, propaganda and explanation for 1500 citizens and tourists and gave out brochures more than 20,000 which had made the public understand the diverse landscapes, profound historical culture and strong national customs of Zhangye Geopark, and further understand the collection resources of Zhangye Geopark Museum and the citywide protection of geoheritage.

The consciousness of saving resources, protecting environment and caring for the earth was propagated to the citizens and tourists through the World Earth Day activity. It enhanced the conscientiousness of public to protect landscape and geological relics, deepened the understanding of the national conditions and policies of land and resources, formed strong consensus of saving and utilizing resources, promoting the construction of ecological civilization together and accelerating the rise of green development in Zhangye from the whole society.
