Letter from the General Office of the Land and Resources Ministry Concerning the Application of UGGp

Department of Land and Resources in Fujian, Hunan, Guizhou, Gansu province:

On November 28th 2017, Geological Environment Department of the Ministry of National Land and Resources organized the tenth global geopark expert recommended review meeting. According to the results of the review and the requirement of two global geoparks are allowed to be recommended every year each country from UNESCO Global Geopark Operational Guidelines, Xiangxi Geopark of Hunan province and Zhangye Geopark of Gansu province are identified as application units in 2019 submitted to UNESCO by China. Xingyi Geopark in Guizhou province and Longyan Geopark in Fujian province are identified as application units in 2020.

Relative matters of application are notified as follows:

1.    Letter of intent of application

Compile letter of intent of global geopark application according to UGGp Operational Guidelines (2 sets of paper and electronic documents in Chinese and English). After being agreed by provincial government, submitted to Ministry of Land and Resources by provincial Department of Land and Resources.

Xiangxi Geopark of Hunan province and Zhangye Geopark of Gansu province are requested to submit application before May 1st 2018, and Xingyi Geopark in Guizhou province and Longyan Geopark in Fujian are requested to submit before May 1st 2019.

2.    Application materials

Compile official global geopark application materials according to UGGp Operation Guidelines(3 sets of paper and electronic documents in Chinese and English). After being signed and sealed by provincial government leader, submitted to Ministry of Land and Resources by provincial Department of Land and Resources.

Xiangxi Geopark of Hunan province and Zhangye Geopark of Gansu province are requested to submit application before September 30th 2018, and Xingyi Geopark in Guizhou province and Longyan Geopark in Fujian are requested to submit before September 30th 2019.

The department of Land and resources notifies the recommended geopark and local government to prepare the letters and materials of application seriously and submitted on time. Meanwhile, get ready for reception of investigation of UNESCO experts.
