Announcement on Recruiting Partners of Zhangye National Geopark

As the only complex area combining Danxia Landscape and colourful hills in China, Zhangye National Geopark is a large-scale one integrating scientific research, science popularization and education, tourism and sightseeing, history and culture, ethnic customs and geoheritage protection. It was on December 28, 2017 that Zhangye Geopark was selected into the 10th batch list of the Global Geoparks to be recommended by the former Ministry of Land and Resources, and obtained the qualification of declaring the Global Geopark in 2019. And At the 4th Open Conference of the International Geoscience and Geopark held in Paris, France on February 21, 2019, it was chosen to be the candidate for the 2019 Global Geopark (UGGp). Therefore, the establishment of the Global Geopark is not only the current major task of our city, but also an important platform for Zhangye to build an international tourist destination. Now the construction work has entered a sprint stage. In order to respond to the core idea of “cooperative development of education and community economy” advocated by the UNESCO Global Geopark, popularize geoscience knowledge, and to promote local economic development with geological tourism, now we’re going to recruit partners of Zhangye National Geopark in the whole city according to certain requirements. Relevant tips are hereby announced as follows:

Ⅰ. Scope of solicitation

The partners to be recruited are supposed to be distinctive hotels, restaurants, agritainment undertakers and travel agencies in Zhangye featuring high popularity, credibility, grade and quality as well as good environment, and enterprises dealing with the development, production and promotion of creative products and local specialties, that is:

1. Hotels, restaurants, agritainment yards and souvenir shops, etc. in Zhangye.

2. Travel agencies boasting high reputation, good performance and wide business scope in Zhangye.

3. Enterprises dealing with local distinctive snacks and diets in Zhangye.

4. Enterprises and cooperatives dealing with the production and promotion of local specialties such as yak beef, yak yoghurt, jujube series, red wine, liquor and so on.

5. Enterprises majoring on the production and promotion of creative products and handicrafts featuring national and folklore cultural characteristics.

Ⅱ. Cooperative manners

1. Units intending to become partners of the Geopark should first apply to the Administration of Zhangye Geopark, and sign cooperation agreements after the Administration determines that they are partners according to relevant requirements. Then the plaque of “Zhangye National Geopark Partners” will be awarded to them.

2. Units that are going to become the park’s partners will assume corresponding responsibilities and obligations. They can publicize and promote their products under the capacity of the   partners of Zhangye National Geopark, participate in geological research and popular science exchanges, and promote local economic development. First, they are free to use the Geopark LOGO for publicity, and to place the Geopark brochures in hotels, restaurants and other places. Besides, they should provide high-quality and preferential services for experts and tourists from home and abroad to visit and study in the Geopark. Last but not least, they are supposed to actively provide relevant information to cooperate with the Geopark for tourism publicity.

3. The Geopark will publicize and promote its partners free of charge through its publicity media such as the website, microblog and wechat platform, so that tourists and experts at home and abroad can know more about the enterprises and bring economic benefits to the cooperative companies. At the same time, the Geopark will give priority to the business needs of its partners when activities related to the popularization of science are held, such as geological tourism, ecological tourism and popular science summer camp and so on, thus realizing mutual assistance and benefit as well as win-win cooperation.

Ⅲ. Time schedule

1.Units willing to become partners of the Geopark should fill in the application form (see annex) before May 25, 2019, and submit an application for registration to the Administration for Zhangye Geopark with business license or organization code certificate, two unit photos and three product photos (electronic version, no less than 2 megahertz).

2.From May 26 to 31, 2019, the Administration will inspect applicants to determine the list of partners.

3. On June 5, 2019, the agreement will be signed and the licensing in place. At the same time, a training course for partners is going to be held.
