Protect World Heritages, Build a Diversified Homeland Together

The second Saturday of June each year is China's Cultural and Natural Heritage Day. This July 14, under the guidance of UNESCO’s Convention Concerning the Protection of the World Cultural and Natural Heritage, Zhangye UNESCO Global Geopark organized a special science popularization activity with the theme of “Protect World Heritages, Build a Diversified Homeland Together”. This activity aims to enhance public awareness of the importance of World Heritage protection and understand the long-standing cultural heritages and magnificent natural heritages.

Especially for this activity, Zhangye UGGp compiled a leaflet about World Heritage Sites in China and Zhangye Colorful Hills, which is applying for World Natural Heritage status. Besides, Zhangye Geopark also prepared a special lecture in front of the visit center of Zhangye Colorful Hills Scenic Areas to introduce the development of World Heritage, the significance of protecting the heritages, and the formation mechanism of Zhangye Colorful Hills and its unique aesthetic values.

The attending visitors said that through this activity, they have learned about the World Heritages in China, understood the importance of conserving World Heritages, and gained new insights into the formation mechanism and aesthetic values of Zhangye Colorful Hills.
