Zhangye UGGp Attended the Online Certificate Presentation Ceremony for Newly Designated UGGps

On June 2nd, 2025, the Certificate Presentation Ceremony for the newly designated UNESCO Global Geoparks was held at UNESCO Headquarters in Paris, with Zhangye UGGp participating via video link.

In April 2025, UNESCO officially designated 16 candidate sites as NESCO Global Geoparks. China has added two members, namely Kanbula and Yunyang UNESCO Global Geoparks. Up to now, there are 229 UGGps around the world, distributed in 50 countries and regions, of which China has 49.

Zhangye UNESCO Global Geopark, as a member of the Global Geoparks Network (GGN) since 2020, actively cooperates and communicates with other GGN members. It built sister-geoparks relationships with 21 UGGps including Longyan, Xiangxi, Alxa Desert, and Kanbula, the newly added one. Through museum exhibitions, printing publication materials, and exchange visits, the sister-geoparks are vitally promoted. It has made a positive contribution to the development of the GGN by sharing experiences on geoheritage conservation and science popularization in activities such as UGGps International Courses and Nature & Culture Forum.
