Staff of Zhangye Geopark attended the Service Enhancement Training of Science Popularization Base

On June 25, the Service Enhancement Training of Science Popularization Base was held in Beijing, hosted by the China Association for Science and Technology. As one of the first bunch of National Science Popularization Education Bases 2021-2025, Zhangye Geopark, on the recommendation of the Municipal Association for Science and Technology, sent staff to participate in this event.

Pang Xiaodong, the deputy minister of the Science Popularization Department of the China Association for Science and Technology, delivered a report on how to carry out science popularization work, how to improve the science quality of the people, and how to construct science popularization bases.

To truly benefit the representatives from 137 Science popularization Bases who came to Beijing from afar, the event invited experts, including Jin Miao, the deputy minister of the Science Education Department of the National Natural History Museum of China, to give lecturers with the themes such as "Combining museum and school to help science education addition and subtraction and Using New quality productivity to promote the innovation and development of popular science education bases.

Zhangye National Geopark was designated a National Science Popularization Education Base in 2022.

To make this title truly deserved, Zhangye Geopark adhered to the main tasks of management and construction of the National Science Popularization Base and UNESCO Global Geopark, taking the creation of World-Class Tourist Attraction and Revalidation of the UGGp as the opportunity, optimizing the infrastructure, enhancing the functions of the Geopark Museum, Educational and Practical Bases, and Jiugequan Scientific Expedition Area, completing the introduction boards within the geopark, and organizing international events.

In recent years, the geopark has hired professors and experts from the China University of Geosciences (Beijing) and Chinese Academy of Geological Sciences to instruct work, issued publications and reading materials including Colorful Hills special edition of Duzhe Magazine,three versions of geopark textbooks for primary school students, high school students, and tourists, and science popularization pamphlets, and shot 6 videos.
